Overview
The URWERK UR-110 Torpedo AlTiN Singapore Edition is one of the rarest executions of the UR-110 platform. Produced in a series of just 5 pieces in 2012 for The Hour Glass, this edition reflects a close collaboration between URWERK and one of its most important retail partners in Asia.
This configuration is immediately recognisable through its blue satellite numerals and minute indexes, set against a dark AlTiN treated case. The contrast introduces a distinctive visual signature within the UR-110 family.
Now discontinued, the UR-110 has become one of URWERK’s most sought after models. This Singapore Edition stands apart for its rarity and its specific place within the brand’s history.
Case and Material
The case combines titanium with a steel bezel, both treated with Aluminium Titanium Nitride.
This coating provides:
• exceptional hardness and resistance to wear
• high resistance to oxidation
• a uniform matte black surface
The result is a subdued and technical finish that enhances the geometry of the UR-110 case while reinforcing its industrial character.
Satellite Torpedo Time Display
The UR-110 presents time through a highly engineered satellite system.
Three rotating hour satellites travel along a vertically arced minute track, progressing from 0 to 60 minutes in a downward motion. Each satellite carries an arrow shaped indicator, often referred to as a torpedo.
A planetary gearing system ensures the satellites remain aligned as they rotate. As each satellite reaches the minute track, it takes its turn indicating the time before moving forward in sequence.
This architecture creates a continuous and controlled flow of time across the dial.
Mechanical Architecture
The complexity of the UR-110 display is structured across multiple layers:
• a central carousel providing stability and balance
• planetary gearing maintaining parallel alignment of the satellites
• three counter rotating hour modules, each integrating hour display, minute indication, and counterbalance
These elements operate simultaneously, creating a display that appears fluid while remaining mechanically precise.
Dial Indications
The dial integrates additional information within its layered construction:
• small seconds
• day and night indicator
• oil change service indicator
These functions are presented discreetly, allowing the satellite display to remain the focal point while providing insight into the behaviour of the movement.
Twin Turbine Winding System
Turning the watch over reveals one of URWERK’s defining innovations.
The case-back features twin turbine windows which regulate the winding rate of the automatic rotor. Using air resistance, the turbines help control rotor speed and reduce mechanical stress during periods of high activity.
