UR-202/203: Enter The Turbine

In 2008, URWERK unveiled the UR-202 "Hammerhead," a groundbreaking evolution of their wandering-hour satellite complication, featuring telescopic minute hands that extended and retracted to track the minutes with precision. Its bold, shark-inspired case and futuristic aesthetic embodied the brand's avant-garde spirit, capturing collectors' imaginations. The UR-202 also introduced an industry-first turbine-regulated winding system, allowing the wearer to adjust winding efficiency using miniature air turbines—an ingenious blend of traditional horology and cutting-edge innovation.
The UR-202 won the REVOLUTION WATCH AWARD for 2008

Several notable variants further enriched the UR-202's legacy, including the ultra-rare "White Shark," limited to just 12 monochrome stainless-steel and titanium pieces, and the "UR-202S Full Metal Jacket," a 50-piece run marking URWERK's first integrated metal bracelet. Renowned collectors like Michael Jordan, and Jackie Chan embraced the model, solidifying its iconic status. Today, the UR-202 remains a pivotal chapter in URWERK's story, celebrated for its inventive mechanics and daring design philosophy.
Released in 2010 as an ultra-exclusive evolution of the UR-202, the UR-203 took the Hammerhead’s pioneering mechanics a step further. Produced in a strictly limited edition of just 20 pieces, each crafted in platinum with a black PVD finish, the UR-203 showcased an open-worked dial that revealed its intricate mechanics. It retained the celebrated telescopic hands and turbine winding system from the UR-202, while reintroducing the unique "control board" complication featuring an oil-change indicator and a 150-year odometer—details originally seen on the UR-201. The UR-203 stands today as a rare and sought-after collector’s piece, beautifully exemplifying URWERK’s uncompromising dedication to mechanical innovation and artistic design.
When legends like Michael Jordan and Jackie Chan wear URWERK, it speaks volumes. Jordan, known for his love of collecting URWERK, has been seen wearing multiple versions of the UR-202, drawn to its bold lines and mechanical innovation.
Jackie Chan, a longtime admirer of fine watchmaking, chose the UR-202 to star in his movie Zodiac. Where it is used to control time travel. Completely aligning it with URWERK's inspiration of time, travel and speed.
