Overview
The URWERK UR-103.09 AlTiN Black Steel represents one of the rarest executions of the UR-103 platform. Produced in a series of just 5 pieces, this configuration marks one of the final evolutions of the 103 collection.
Finished in a matte black AlTiN coating, the watch presents a more restrained and technical expression of URWERK’s early satellite time architecture. The darkened case enhances the sculptural form of the UR-103 while emphasising its asymmetrical geometry.
As one of the last UR-103 references produced, the 103.09 stands at the end of a chapter that defined URWERK’s identity.
Case and Material
The case is constructed in steel and treated with Aluminium Titanium Nitride, commonly referred to as AlTiN.
This advanced coating provides:
• exceptional hardness and resistance to wear
• high oxidation resistance
• a uniform matte black finish
Beyond its technical properties, the AlTiN treatment gives the watch a subdued presence, allowing the architecture of the case and the movement beneath to take precedence.
Satellite Time Display
The UR-103.09 features URWERK’s original revolving satellite hour system.
Four hour satellites rotate across the dial, each travelling along the minute arc to indicate the time. As the active satellite moves across the scale, it presents the hours in both digital and analogue form.
The display remains fluid and mechanical, with each satellite completing its path before returning to the carousel to continue its orbit.
This system established the foundation for all subsequent URWERK satellite complications.
Case Architecture
The UR-103 case remains one of the most distinctive forms in contemporary watchmaking.
Its asymmetrical profile and three dimensional construction create a sense of movement even when the watch is at rest. The matte black finish further accentuates the vertical lines and the aerodynamic shape of the case.
The result is a design that feels both technical and sculptural, reflecting the collaboration between Felix Baumgartner’s mechanical vision and Martin Frei’s design language.
The URWERK Control Board
Turning the watch over reveals the URWERK Control Board, a defining feature of the UR-103 series.
The caseback presents a set of functional indications:
• 36 hour power reserve indicator
• chronometer display with minutes and seconds for precise time setting
• precision adjustment screw for fine regulation
This system allows the wearer to interact directly with the movement, adjusting its rate to suit individual use.

Limited to 5 pieces, the UR-103.09 AlTiN is among the most exclusive references ever produced within the UR-103 family.

Watches will be shipped using the best courier service based on your location. Please note, deliveries are not made on Bank Holidays or Sundays.
